Read moreWhoa, I know that summer just officially started, but it feels like we’re halfway through summer break (school starts back in early August around here), and I’m not sure how I feel about it this year. Part of me knows that we all thrive when we’re on that school year schedule, but another part of me loves these slow mornings where we can just hang out in bed and wake up without setting an alarm.
Let me preface this by saying that I started typing this post a couple of weeks ago, if not longer. So I’m going to date it like a journal entry, because I feel like the information is important, but also we have updates since I initially started getting my words out here. Hang on tight….
Early to mid July, I can’t remember when exactly:
Wow, how do I have a six month old baby again?
A six month old and a six year old.
It’s crazy to think about sometimes.
Unpopular opinion: I don’t hate my postpartum body.
GASP! Am I right?
I feel like we, as women, have been trained from childhood to hate our bodies. It doesn’t matter how big or small, short or tall or perfectly in shape it might be, we can find a reason to degrade it.

We were able to stay in our “labor and delivery” room for a good hour or so before they wanted to move us to our “mother and baby” room. Our local hospital (that we used before) is completely different; there you give birth and stay all in the same room. The rooms are extra spacious for that reason. But here, you switch rooms and nurses altogether.
