Let me start this by saying that from the time I had a Prom to prepare for in high school, until a little after I got married in 2013, I was using tanning beds. I’m mortified that I ever thought that was a good idea, and I’m fully committed to snatching Eleanor up by the toes if I ever find her using one! Kidding …..kind of.

feels a lot like regular life in our house. Lots of time together and lots of time at home.
There are a few things that we’re missing around here though.

One thing that I try to do for Eleanor each year is to give her one “big” gift and then fill in with little wants and necessities. Every gift doesn’t necessarily have to be a toy, and the big gift doesn’t necessarily have to be big (big can mean literally big, or just a pricier item that she wants). Last year she got an art easel for her big gift, and it was only $20 from Ikea; however, this year her big gift is big in every sense of the word (lol). She’s been wanting this ice-cream truck for her My Generation Doll (a much more affordable version of the American Girl Dolls), and this year I finally caved. Now I’ll grab several more things from her “want” list, but I also plan to add in some things that she needs too! Everything is a gift this time of year! Pajamas, a toothbrush and new underwear all make the gift pile around here.

When we first moved into this house, we had just left an updated (ish) 2007 built house for a 1983 fixer upper. So we’re missing features like windows on either side of our bed, and a tray ceiling in our master. In our new (older) house there are two windows in the bedroom, but they’re across the room from each other like a couple of maniacs! There is absolutely no centering the bed on any wall in this room at all. At first, I was beyond frustrated, but it really got my gears turning and forced me to be creative.

I really like to keep things simple when it comes to porch decor. I think that’s because I’m not really outdoorsy, and I’m terrified of critters and bugs getting all up in my space. It seems like if I keep things simple, there are no hiding places for snakes or anything. [I don’t know y’all, I’m weird, okay?!]

I grabbed this sweater from the Nordstrom Sale a couple of months ago, immediately fell in love and ordered the gray one too! It’s been sweltering hot here since it arrived, but I still wanted to style it several ways just to see how versatile it’d be for when the cooler temps actually roll around. Turns out, it’s as flexible a piece of clothing as I’d hoped, and now that I’ve already taken these photos, I can’t stop thinking of more ways that I’m going to be wearing this comfy thing!
