We’ve been dreaming of a new front door since we moved in to our current house. It’s not a necessity though, and other things have taken priority, (fixer upper problems), so we’ve been living with what we’ve got for the last three years.
I woke up a few weeks back and decided that paint was going to solve our problems. [It really is crazy what can be achieved with paint, as far as visual differences!]
So in true non-perfectionist fashion, we made a Lowe’s run, and instead of researching paint colors and testing swatches in different lighting, I bought a can of pre-mixed black paint right off the shelf.
I feel you cringing right now, and I’m not the least bit offended.
While I applaud those of you who are willing to do the test swatches and figure out the perfect shade of black (so that when I Pinterest search exact paint colors, they pop right up), I ain’t the one.
Krylon COLORmaxx Satin Black is what I used. I figured if it looked purple (some blacks do this), or if it was just straight up ugly when I finished, I’d try again another day.
I knew that painting the sidelights would make our door feel bigger, but I didn’t anticipate it making our steps feel bigger too! Happy surprise.
Like I said, I’m not a perfectionist. There are parts that surely need to be touched up, but I’m so much happier to see this front door every time I come home now, and that’s what matters to me.
It’s better than before, and I’m so happy with the end result.
