I don’t know guys, I used to get really excited about this sale, and then I’d see all of these big influencers sharing literally the exact same outfits over and over again, each piece selling out before I was even allowed to shop the sale, and it got old fast.
Apparently you have to spend $16,000 in a year to be “top tier” and thus eligible to shop the sale on the very first day that it goes live.
Excuse me, but if you are freely spending the price of a used vehicle [yearly] at Nordstrom, do you really need your items at a discounted price…? Lol
Anyway, I still like to browse the sale every year (from my very bottom-of-the-barrel, barely-spends-any-money-there status). Things tend to restock by the time I’m allowed to shop, but it’s sporadic because it’s mostly returns from the $16k group.
That being said, my very favorite thing about Nordstrom is the fact that you get free shipping and free returns ALL THE TIME. You can literally order anything in like three different sizes, try them all on and then return whatever doesn’t work for you. It’s basically an at-home-fitting-room, and that is most definitely MY JAM!
I mean, no people …no sales associates ….just me and the rest of my wardrobe (that I like to try on with certain pieces anyway) in the privacy of my own home with all the time in the world to figure things out. I hate feeling like maybe I’ve been in a fitting room for too long. Or like shoooot, I wish I had my favorite pair of jeans to try on with this top! None of that happening here.
Plus Nordstrom carries waaaay more stuff online than in store. Our local store (which isn’t really local, it’s over an hour away) hardly ever has much stock. Online is the way to go.
Also, if you’ve never shopped this sale before, here’s the low down. The reason it’s such a popular sale is because it’s not an end-of-season-clearance. It’s brand new fall/winter stuff at a heavily discounted rate. Things will go out of stock, because apparently the sale is meant to sell out, but it will mostly restock at FULL FREAKING PRICE for those who wait until the weather cooperates to purchase seasonal stuff.
Basically, if you’re willing to think ahead, and buy your winter coats, fall sweaters and cute booties during the blazing summer heat, it pays off.
But also, don’t fret if you miss out on something that you had your eye on. Chances are, it’ll be back in the fall/winter [albeit at full price], but also the N Sale is all about those classic pieces that will last, so they tend to bring items back in an updated version each year too!
Another thing to note (that I’ve heard and read many times) is that other retailers are watching which products do best at the N Sale, and you’ll see similar items pop up everywhere at different price points based on the best sellers.
For example, if cognac booties with side slits is a hot seller this year, you can bet your booty that Target, Old Navy and every boutique from here to kingdom-come will be offering cognac booties with side slits in their normal price range.
So while it’s fun to shop this sale, it’s far from necessary.
Let me tell ya what I like to look for at the Nordstrom Sale.
I like to grab a Nordstrom-sized-bottle of my favorite self-tan. [They make a special jumbo size for the sale, and it retails for just about what a regular size bottle does year round]
In the past, I’ve stocked up on my favorite leggings in the world (nope, not Spanx). My faves are Zella. They retail for $60-$70, and I’ve gotten them for $39 at this sale. Still not cheap, but they’re the very best, and I’ll die on that hill. Lol
If you like Anastasia Brow Wiz, they typically have a realllly good deal at the N Sale. This year it’s two full size brow wiz tubes as well as a tube of brow gel for $33. Not bad, considering that a single brow wiz is $23.
If you’re in the market for a good pair of boots or booties, you’ll definitely be able to find some here. I will say that you’re still going to pay a bit more than you would at Target, but still get a good deal if you were planning to splurge.
Speaking of splurging on shoes… I paid full price for my Adidas Ultraboosts, and they were worth EVERY SINGLE PENNY. Tennis shoes / athletic shoes / sneakers used to hurt my feet so badly, I just flat out refused to wear them (long toes problems), but these are so freaking comfy y’all! Anyway, they’re still not cheap, but they are around $60 off at the sale. [Fit is true to size — I know the NMDs fit me very large, like a full size too big in my normal size, but the Ultraboost was definitely true to size]
I ordered Shep’s stroller from this sale last year, and it looks like the price has actually gone up this year in the revamped version. It’s not a cheap stroller / carseat situation, but it’s definitely not the most expensive either. We love ours so much, and highly recommend it. Even Leslie says it was worth the money, and trust me when I tell ya, that’s a feat!
The Free People thermal top sold out quickly last year. I have it, but it runs very large, and I wish I would have sized down. It was nice while I was pregnant though, and the buttons are functional, so it converted well for postpartum coverage and nursing.
There are other things linked, but they’re honestly afterthoughts because I err on the side of order-too-much-and-send-it-all-back, rather than missing out on something and having buyers remorse later. It’s a real character flaw over here, but I am who I am. Lol
